Tom plans to become Ireland's first astronaut space tourist when he rides into space aboard Virgin Galactic's VSS Enterprise, named after the starship in Star Trek, The Original Series.

Tom, along with 99 other members of Sir Richard Branson's 100-strong "Founders Club" which includes Star Trek's William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and former Dallas star, Victoria Principal, will make the historic journey by travelling nearly 100 miles into space.
